Do you want to know my current skincare secret? (apart from the antiobiotics I am currenly on for acne)
It's these little £5-6 beauties that I first discovered on ASOS and have since seen blowing up. The Ordinary Skincare is a new brand owned by Deciem. Deciem describe themselves as 'An Abnormal Beauty Company' and it isn't hard to see why. They are doing things that others aren't and trying to change the industry for the better
But I am not here to talk about Deciem as a whole. Mainly their brand The Ordinary and the 2 new additions to my skincare arsenal that I am LOVING
I first came across The Ordinary on ASOS and after doing a bit of research, I just knew I had to try out a couple of bits. When you see skincare that isn't going to break your bank you know you just have to try it anyway
I remember reading all about the wonders of hyaluronic acid in the book "Pretty Honest: The Straight Talking Beauty Companion", and have since reading it been hunting for the perfect moisturiser with this ingredient in. But I have also not been willing to spend £30+ on such a thing. OUCH! So when I saw I could get hyaluronic acid from the Ordinary for £6, well, it's a no brainer and I think anyone would add it to their shopping basket. Hyaluronic acid is in our skin naturally but can be used on the surface to also aid surface hydration. It is too big a molecule to penetrate the skin but instead aids surface hydration which will aid how your skin looks and feels from the surface
This formula uses three forms of HA with varying molecular weights, as well as an HA crosspolymer, to offer multi-depth hydration and visible plumping without drawing water out of the skin solely to improve temporary surface hydration
I use this on my face AM and PM before any creams and makeup, and when I wake up in the morning I definitely feel like the surface of my skin is smoother and looks more plump. My bags under my eyes also seem reduced due to the plumping and moisturising effect hyaluronic acid can give. It has been a godsend to how my skin feels and looks from afar. It has created this perfect skin easel for my makeup too and my makeup sits better since I have started using this. For just £6 everybody NEEDS this product in their life. I can't sing its praises enough
The second item I picked up was their Niacinamide. This is the one I had to really research and see if it was for me and if it would help me. It is described as a high strength vitamin and mineral blemish formula and Deciem state it to reduce the appearance of skin blemishes and congestion. Well, I knew I needed this right away as I suffer from terrible acne and cystic acne which is the worst! Again, I apply this AM and PM before any creams and I applied this before the hyaluronic acid
Not going to lie guys, the first evening I tried this I woke up and my cystic acne had reduced by a third in size. This was way before I had started taking any antibiotics for my acne also so I can only put the reduction in size down to this niacinamide. I was stunned that a £6 product could potentially be helping. I have been using this religiously AM and PM with the hyaluronic acid and my skin is the clearest it has ever been in my entire life. Genuinely stunned that spending £12 could be fixing some of my major skin care woes and helping me live my best skincare life currently! I don't feel like I look terrible and lumpy when I go outside without makeup on anymore. I feel like I glow with reduced redness
Deciem do also state though that "while Niacinamide and Zinc PCA reduce the look of blemishes and balance visible sebum activity, neither is a treatment for acne. For persistent acne-related conditions, we recommend the use of Benzoyl Peroxide and/or Retinoic Acid. We do not recommend the use of Salicylic Acid. This formulation can be used alongside acne treatments if desired for added visible skin benefits."
My skin isn't entirely fixed and perfect, but I am stunned at what these two products combined have actually achieved for me and the dramatic results I have seen quite quickly
It all seems to be cruelty free and vegan too. Hooray! I strongly recommend you look into what would be best for your skin woes and try it out. At items being no more than £10, it's totally worth it!
Will you look into 'The Ordinary'?
